xenoborg
Several frustrating save reloads later, i remove the useless rover module, chuck in an orbital drop module with some igneous and gold fly to orbit, drop the orbital drops, launch the trailblazer module, and then proceed to have about as much unfun as you can possibly have in this game, forcing my sunburned stressed out dupe to work for a day opening the slowest possible 200kg (LOL) cannisters spread out over the full surface so she can build the rocket platform and a ladder system before she runs out of air. Thats not fun, not even remotely. The orbital drop just needs to be one cannister, when you make the proper method this unfun its no wonder people just cheese with demoing two trailblazer landers. Sasza22
Rovers can open the canisters if you don`t want to risk the dupe. They can even deliver the metal to the landing pad (but can`t build it). Still it`s a pretty crude way to do it it feels. I guess t wouldn`t hurt if the canisters could hold more, especially now that the module can hold a lot more mass. KonfigSys
when I discover a new asteroid, I bombard it with payloads (from interplanetary launcher) filled with gold (or any refined metal will do). So when a dupe lands, there are so many payloads laying on the ground so he just needs to pick up any 4 close by to build the platform. And yes, I did not have igneous rock for ladders on niobium, so I had to make golden steps to reach the habitat. Also remember that you can send more atmosuits filled with oxygen via the payload. When my dupe runs out of oxygen he can change the atmosuit right in the field. Spoiler That was critical on regolith asteroid as the terrain is uneven and it was very hard to collect even 4 payloads but more importantly, he needed to dig 22 tiles down to accommodate r/a rocket landing. The trick with extra suits saved his life. Timotheeee1
just send in 2 trailblazers and deconstruct them, you get enough metal to build the platform Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/132687-orbital-dropping-on-magma-planet-about-as-unfun-as-stepping-on-legos/#findComment-1489470 Share on other sites
Dr.gravitas
What IS the proper method for starting the magma asteroid? Two trailblazers, deconstruct, build a rocket platform, land your rocket, build a ladder tall enough to get the dupes back in the rocket... and do it all on one breath of air? I can get the first four steps done but my two dupes die after building the rocket platform. I'm just scratching my head for other ideas... Can I make them wear atmo suits prior to getting in the trailblazers? Maybe I'll give that a go.
