Polluted dirt offgas rate in vanilla

Recommended Posts

The rate of polluted dirt offgassing was reduced in Spaced Out because of the swamp start, and then this change was propagated into vanilla due to the mergedown. This means that polluted dirt offgassing (which was rather slow in the first place) is absolutely crippled in vanilla now. Polluted dirt exists outside of the swamp start in Spaced Out and it's kind of silly to apply the change universally like that.

I suggest that either polluted dirt should offgas at the normal rate in vanilla only (undoing this accidental nerf), or the sublimation station should be added into vanilla to compensate (there's no real reason why it shouldn't be in vanilla).

I'd take the second option personally, to simply allow the construction of the sublimation station in vanilla, especially since it's a building for oxygen and not rocketry or radiation or all of those major kinds of stuff. But in vanilla, you don't find this much polluted dirt in general, even though I feel like the nerf on the polluted dirt producing less polluted oxygen isn't much of a game changer.

If you still want to make polluted oxygen, you can use polluted water as a workaround, wether it's spilled on the floor or bottled. Its convertion to polluted oxygen has not changed.

I actually reported this in the bug tracker shortly after the merge-down as I kind of figured it wasn't intentional. Sadly, never got any sort of a response.

But yeah, using the off-gassing of pDirt for anything is really sub-optimal now. I don't understand why polluted dirt even off-gasses now other than as a nuisance the player has to deal with in some fashion.

Please either revert this change in the base game only or add the sublimation station to the base game. As many other's have mentioned.
