ArgleBargle
^ What it says on the tin. I don't know why I'm given an option to toggle suit decay mechanics but not revert the global changes to how vacuum and deep-freezing works. Suit decay is easy to deal with. The latter isn't. I have to spend dozens of cycles just fixing everything to work around the new mechanics while pumping out PO2 gases in places they're not supposed to be to begin with. It's already irritating enough to have to troubleshoot entire builds and work out a construction process as it is and while I don't mind doing it, I hate having it foisted on me without having a grace period to fix it with. Saturnus
Two options: 1) Revert the game to it's previous version before the mergedown changes. It is available as a beta branch on steam. 2) You throw all food don't want to lose freshness into a virtually no cost larder while you either build a proper deep freeze storage solution, or you realize that matching your food production to your food consumption is probably a better strategy as making exces food to just pile up is just wasting resources, power and dupe labour. Here's the virtually no cost infinite freshness and infinite mass food storage: It works because food trapped in an airlock of either kind do not have a freshness counter so it never loses freshness. Note that all tiles in the picture are the minimum needed but it can be natural tiles as well. To trap foods in the door, you build the above and tick the "sweep only" tick box. Then sweep the food you want to store into ration box and empty the ration box so the food drops out. Repeat this process as many times as needed. When done with above, open both doors so the food drops then close first the top door and finally the lower door. Done. Infinite shelf life for the food trapped inside. Optionally you can even deconstruct everything except the bottom door where the food is trapped. Spoonwood
When you start a new colony, just turn duplicant hunger off entirely. It makes things more challenging in some respects in that you can't get morale bonuses from a great hall, mess hall, or from certain types of food in the game. Food in this game has consistently lead to monocroping, no crops grown, or mono-diets of duplicants. The food changes did little to nothing to remedy that situation. Honestly, the food situation in this game is rather poor (and always has been as far as I can tell), and it's sooooo bad that for your next colony, it's just better to not have food turned on at all. Thanks, that's a practical solution for me, moreso than ripping open my Wheezewort "farms" -- which were never intended to opened to begin with. As for wasting labor, I defend my decision in that I go through stints of stockpiling food and turning off the kitchen with a switch. But otherwise, all my industrial processes themselves run at full-tilt. So regardless, the farms, and their resultant ingredients must flow. Likewise, all my rails now point centrally to my storage solutions. On further thought, I now know where I'm going to put my blast freezer, so your solution is probably the one I'll adopt for the time being. I also did find a mod that let me tweak food properties, so I might just use it to set all foods to unspoilable, just like ration bars or berry mush. FutureJohny
I kept the old version, before mergedown. I'll update once my base is ready. For those who did not, you can use this steam consolle (steam://nav/console) command to get v469300 back. Win: download_depot 457140 457141 3950115360070662764 OSX: download_depot 457140 457142 9156379285771459844 Linux: download_depot 457140 457143 2626510963576225463 Afterwards just swap the ONI game folder with the one just downloaded (it will tell you where), set the game to "Update only when launched" to disable autoupdates. Than either watch out when new hotfix hits and put the "old" version back after each one, or just set the Steam to ofline mode and play that version as long as you like without worying about sneaky base or mod breaking updates. mortenbroesby
There's also a mod that reverts these changes. You can even decide which changes you want to revert.
