Hello!

i decided to start learning how to make mods about this week, and since i downloaded the mods tools from steam every time i start DST this "autocompiler.exe" shows up.

when i close this, DST opens normally, so no real issue yet, but i would like to know:

is this normal?

what is it doing?

should i remove it?

should i let it finish? (its taking a eternity)

i am sorry, those are probably dumb  questions, but i have no knowledge of modding so can someone help me? i dont mind if you just send a link to one of the tutorials or anyone who asked the same question, i've read a lot but i probably missed it

Spoiler

and WHY is it loading the screecher?? i've never played it! its not even DST

It's normal, dont worry I was terrified when I first got it lol. That is your handy dandy friend the autocompiler, it runs every time DST opens and it well compiles! It compiles png files, scml projects found in mods exported and images folders and the such into tex, xml, anim files. Reason screecher is showing up there is because screecher has png files that were never removed for some reason.

It's okay to close it  but if you want stuff in your mod files compiled you gotta let it run.

should i try to fix that? i've never used the screecher and probably never will. compiling it every time seems pointless

it shouldnt be a bother, but you could delete the screecher files if you want, they should be in the ds singleplayer mods folder
