Question about farm plots

So if I have 4 farm plots that form a big square can I safely plant 36 crops? Or are there some wonky mechanics that'll cause overcrowdness or missing family?

That's how I understand "in a tile"

I understand that you probably can safely plant 40 plants (10 in on each tile) and they shouldn't be overcrowded.

As for Family and Joy Killers each crop detects these crops in a radius of one tile around them, so just pack them tightly together

So I've made a big 4x3 farm and in one of the corners I planted 9 dragonfruit seeds. Now for some reason the ones at the bottom are happy but the ones on the top are overcrouded. There are no crops in the adjastent tiles.

Some screens would be helpful for a more specific diagnosis.

Unless your character specifically says they are overcrowded I can suspect there are other problems with those Dragon Fruits, like low nutrients for example, because 9 crops of the same species, and especially the better ones like garlic, pepper, onion, durian, dragon fruit and pomegranate, suck them like crazy
