Using empty bottles for preserving food

Recommended Posts

I recently noticed visual similarity between Caviar food from SW and empty bottle in DST. Additionally, many characters mention that bottle might be useful for preserving food. So here goes the idea:

You can put 1 crock pot food at a time into empty bottle to preserve it. While in the bottle, food spoils at reduced rate (0.5 or 0.75). Food bottles can be placed in ice box to stack with its own spoilage modifier. However, to make up usefulness of canning, there are several cons:

Food bottles don't stack, which means each bottle will take separate inventory slot (unlike uncanned crock pot food which stack to 40).

Food bottles can't be relieved of their contents in means other than eating.

Eating a food from bottle will return empty bottle which can be reused indefinitely.

Bonus: you can keep single stack of honey in bottles too and eat one at a time.
