Hats Make Head Invisible

I got a few characters from the steam workshop and they seemed fine for the most part, but after I started playing them in my test world I noticed that when you put a hat on them their heads disappear. It's not all of the characters I got, just a few of them. Heads disappear but not eyes and return immediately once the hat is removed.

Any idea what's causing this and how I can fix it?

I'm certain it's a problem with the mods themselves, missing the proper head sprite when the head item is equipped, that's why the eyes don't disappear because it's a separate sprite. Basically it's the mod makers fault, either message them to update the mod, or find out how to edit the sprites yourself. I know it seems daunting but these are your only options realistically.

I picked through their "exported" folder and found that they're missing "headbase_hat". I think that's the cause so I added sprites for that. Unfortunately, it's not compiling right. It wants to use the old info and when I remove those files and compile it what I get is "esctemplate" instead of the character's name like the old files and the character is just invisible in game. If I change the name it just compiles it again to "esctemplate". As my first time making/fixing mods for this game I'm thoroughly confused about what's going wrong.

I wish I could help more but I really can't, good to see you figured it out. Hopefully someone who can actually tell you how to fix it can respond.
