Question about the rules for using skin sprites

So I'm working on a game mode and was hoping to make unique weapons out of the belongings skins. These can't be used outside of the game mode and will behave differently than their base items (so the hockey stick skin for the spear won't act as a spear). Basically, it's more in line with the Forge.

I know Klei has rules against attempting to basically get free skins, but since that's not the purpose here, I was wondering if this use is alright?

I think that's a little too close to breaking the rules. If am not entirely comfortable saying it's ok. especially with so many other modders that go out of their way to make sure they aren't crossing any lines. I appreciate you checking in, but perhaps you should just do your own art for that so there aren't any issues?
