shadowDigga
So, I've been trying to find out the best method to kill crab king. It doesn't have direct attack, targeting boats instead. If boat sinks, most of the mobs and structures will drown. However, flying mobs don't care if there's a boat beneath them. But since crab king doesn't start trouble on its own, we need this flying mob to be hostile as well. Luckily, we have just the perfect candidate - killer bee. Have few chests on a boat each with 10 killer bees inside (I had 40 bees total) placed next to decorated crab king and let it destroy the boat emerging its own doom. (Why 10 bees - because they get released in a straight line and have small aggro radius, if you have more than 10 in the same container not all of them will aggro on the crab king.) To start the fight itself, build another boat for yourself, close enough to reach with the staff but far enough for geysers/claws (as well as killer bees) not to reach you . Then either attack the crab king with ice staff or ignite the chest/boat with fire staff. 40 killer bees have been able to take down 8 blue gem + 1 pearl crab king within less than half of game day. Feel free to make video of this strategy if you want to, just please leave credit. UPD: Apparently, staff's range is smaller than crabking boat targeting range, so a 3-boat in a row bridge will work. 1st boat to have chest on, 2nd boat to cast staff from, 3rd boat to watch crab king getting wrecked from safe distance. Also, regular backpacks work too as bees containers as they don't sink and cheaper to make. And probably you can use less killer bees, because you will need to recatch/kill them after the fight to collect loot.
Nullum
I'm amazed that someone other than myself actually found one fatal flaw upon the Crab King's design. Here's a screenshot regarding the post mentioning killer bees as a way to defeat the Crab King.
Owlrust
They might just add a direct attack to accommodate this soon before it makes it to the main branch, so I guess we'll see if this strat makes it
