Omid.R.G
What's up people I guess this topic has been discussed before, because it's impossible not to feel this way ! But toadstool is a God damn joke... People ask for new content, and Klei can simply add more content to game by giving some use to the useless stuff in the game, which I think they are going with this path. Since the useless ocean in game now has a use. One useless item in game, is toadstool. This abomination takes a crap ton of resources to defeat, and yet, the loot is not worth it ! Gosh, you can even take the same loot from klaus which needs far less resources. So, what's wrong with the loot? First, the funcaps suck. They are potentially hunger belts which let you keep your backpack, but let's be honest ... If you reach the point where you can defeat toadstool, you are not having problem with hunger ! Instead , it could be some kind of alternative for one man band, which has limited time instead of limited durability. The spore releasing perk is kinda cool, but it's useless again, since the glowcap sucks ! Yea, glowcap and mushlight suck. Because you fight a 54000 hp monster to get a light source, and it's not permanent !! May I remind you, that the scaled furnace has permanent light, while the God damn mushroom lights which are supposed to be a high tier light source, don't ! What the hell is even the point of these things ! One may argue that, oooh but they will be to overpowered ! Well, potentially you could light up an entire area with them if they have infinite light, but you will need a lot of toadstool skin for that, which encourages player to fight toadstool again and again. I don't call it overpowered then ! I'd call it "No pain no gain"... Can we talk about misery toadstool for a second? This creature has a sh!t ton of hp, and has a none guaranteed "unique" drop, which is a worse version of pan flute ! Are you kidding me ? It could be some kind of healing potion instead, which you throw it and it heals players while puts creatures to sleep, much like the living staff in forge... That might give me a reason to waste my gears on 99999 hp boss. Rosten
The Toadstool and especially Misery Toadstool exist to be extra challenges for players who want a much more difficult boss to fight. Putting anything that's necessary behind them is tricky because the majority of players aren't going to be able to beat the boss. In my opinion getting some lightbulbs or spores is not a big price for fueling a high-end base light that has a decent radius, especially since the recent buff that halved the spoiling rate. 3 hours ago, Omid.R.G said: First, the funcaps suck. Spoiler Holy Science, how come that I have never thought of that infinite light source and kept wasting fuel for my bases' lights! ... ... hm, maybe I'd rather stick with the glowcaps. Okay, but seriously, the goal of the furnace isn't to provide light for your base, unlike the that of the glowcap's. They were designed for different purposes and comparing them here doesn't make much sense. TL;DR: I think Toadstool is fine as is, the fight is designed for experienced players who already "beat" the game and its drops are also for them: end-game stuff that aren't necessary and don't make the game much easier, but are nice QoL upgrades for your base/character. Ispin69
Glad they recently made the glowcap last long but was it enough? Might still need more of a buff. And i think you only have to do it once or twice and use a deconstruction staff a few times? I think the funcap hat is a bad loot item. Either needs to be buffed a ton to provide light (not just random spores) and needs to last longer but honestly I would never consider it. The head gear spot is so important for either eyebrella, tam or miners hat. Just like I would never use hibernation vest or belt of hunger over a krampus sack/backpack. They should add other loot. I would suggest bundled wrap supplies of things that aren't that renewable. A bundle full of nitre, a bundle full of rocks, a bundle full of fish/frog legs. Makes sense cause hes a toad so hes part frog and eats fish probably. Eats rocks and nitre from being in the caves too. Misery toad should drop a bundle of green/yellow/orange gems, a bundle of gold/nightmare fuel and all the bundles mentioned earlier. Owlrust
It's all subjective tbh, what one person thinks is horrible another will find as a blessing when it comes to the drops and craftables. On the other hand I think the toadstool fight could need a few adjustments (not rework, just a number tuning at most) to make the fight more manageable and less resource-heavy. My possible suggestions: Increase the time between intervals when Toadstool spawns sporecaps. Reduce the number of total possible sporecaps to a maximum of 4 or 5. Alternatively remove the chopping mechanic of the Sporecaps and replace with a health bar much like the battle standards from the Forge (would recommend no more than 150 hp if the number of caps will remain the same). Reduce Toadstool's Health by 30% or 40%. Increase the number of Shroom Skins dropped when Toadstool reaches intervals in the fight (at 70%, 40%, and 20% respectively) to 2-3 to make creating Mushlights and Napsacks alike more manageable. Currently there are 0-3 levels that increase a multitude of stats for Toadstool with level 1 starting at 1-4 caps. Level 2 at 5-7 caps. Finally, level 3 at 8+ caps. The Idea of the sporecaps is not a bad one, but can prove to be uninteresting and tedious when faced with up to 11 all at once. The time it takes the player to chop down the remaining caps collides with the fact that the Toadstool will spawn more very shortly after, not only drastically hurting dps, but can subsequently force players to always have another player with you or invest in very expensive alternatives. In my opinion, bosses should be manageable "solo", but made easier with friends; this fight pushes the boundaries to become borderline when the player is forced to do a task other than fighting which no other boss besides the Fuelweaver (an end-game boss) requires. These are only my opinions and should be taken with nothing less than a grain of salt and are based on ideas I had in order to make it more enjoyable for everyone.
