Low power early resource but precise cooling?

Recommended Posts

Kitten beat me to it, I was gonna suggest something like piping through ice tempshifts with a little hydrogen on the top layer to transfer heat quickly. Also with temp resetting when you build something (15C maybe), you could constantly rebuild those temp shift plates to keep getting the desired temps. stop me when this sounds like too much of an exploit for you or I have something wrong.

I have a very simple setup, albeit a little stop-gap. Step one is to build a big pool out of a decent insulator and fill it partway up with water at whatever temperature is most convenient. Run a radiant gas pipe along the bottom that your oxygen will pass through, and optionally a radiant (or sedimentary rock) liquid pipe for cooling water. As long as the pool is hotter than your desired temperature, have the duplicants dump ice in. For even better performance build some dirt tempshift plates to increase the heat capacity of the system. Depending on the particulars of your base you might be able to sustain this system for a while using ice makers; if so remember to feed the ice makers with the high-temp (relative to your base) water and not the chilled water. If you have electrolyzers you should feed them on the hottest water available (obviously don’t heat up water just for the electrolyzers) and use the hydrogen up as quickly as it’s produced.
