Gold Only Automated Set Temperature Metal Volcano

1. Why?

2. YouTube video of it in action

4. The need to knows

5. Building the hydrogen pocket - Important

1 - (Why?)  All volcanoes were not created equal, making clock sensor based systems to "try" and pick up metal at the right temperature difficult, so why not just have the volcano throw out metal at the temperature you set as fast as it can erupt. I have seen a few other compact builds but they all require vast amounts of steel, this requires none.

2 - (YouTube video - aka the important bit)

3 - (The Design)

As no steel has been used a hydrogen pocket 2kg per tile is used to cool down the autosweeper and loader, kept in place by steam.

Bare minimum of automation, the left hand temp sensor is how we set what temperature we want the metal to come out as, the right is set -5 / -10 to prevent as much power wastage as possible by shutting off aquatuner useful for lower producing volcanoes, the liquid temp sensor is set for -5 (to prevent polluted water freezing)

4 - (The need to knows)

Total volume of steam used is 1,250kg

There are 2 diamond tempshift plates behind the volcano, to even out metal temperatures as much as possible before the autosweeper picks it up.

The size of the metal radiator and thus the cooling and conveyor loops depend on the output of the volcano per eruption, 9.4kgs for 50 seconds = 470 kg, each conveyor rail holds up to 20kg (note you do get quite a few non 20kg loads, so add buffers) 470kg requires at the bare minimum 23.5 metal tiles (aka the radiator).

The build consists solely of Gold / Gold amalgam except for Certain parts of the conveyor rail, which are Iron ore, this is to prevent melting in insulated tiles (see youtube video for where these are)

5 - (Building the hydrogen pocket)

The reason why this build is possible is due to the hydrogen pocket with all the important stuff being super chilled very very quickly, which is what we need.

Create the above, the only dug out area on the volcano needed will be the top most left one, which will also show you what type you have found.

Fill in the area with 2kg per tile of hydrogen however you see fit.

Now you need to build the following as you will not be able to access / repair this again without A LOT of hassle

Note the conveyor rails coming off the loader are iron ore (VERY IMPORTANT)

Seal up the room for now place an airlock door (not shown in remaining pictures - cause its there only to set up things) with an automation wire leading to a switch, lock the door trapping 2kg per tile of hydrogen in there.

Vacuum out remaining hydrogen then place an insulated wall.

Build the adjacent room / build everything you need to in here while you have access then vacuum it out.

Destroy remaining blocks on the volcano, seal off the room and fill the room up with 1,250kg of steam, before opening the airlock with the switch.

Are you finding that metal is being sent to the heat exchange stack at above 200c when the volcano is active?  I'm going to guess that this is the case.  I'd be tempted to place a thermo sensor in the steam room, which only enables the loaders when the temperature is below 200.

The steam room never goes above 150-160, so gold buildings can be used, because the metal is never allowed to pile up, each eruptions worth of metal is cooled and shipped out before the next.

The heat exchanger can deal with the 200+ heat as it's rapidly cooled, see vid.
