Chthonicone
Could we please not just have a single branch for the game, but a series of Stable branches that we can opt into, as well as a Beta Build if we want all of the newest cutting edge changes? This would help mod makers build mods for a target version, and mod users would not have to worry about changes breaking mods instantly without warning. A game that does this is Stellaris. You can chose any major version, or one of a bunch of beta builds towards the next stable. sktzofreak101
Admittedly, modding would definitely benefit from this. My two cents though is that there currently is only one version of the game. The game just launched and has not had an upgrade(the equivalent to versions in ONI) since. I could see maintaining the current version and the last version(for a time), but there isn't a last version yet. I realize that the stream of hotfixes getting released right now are breaking mods but post launch that is pretty normal. Priority one at launch is fixing the base game, mods are an afterthought and modding a freshly launched game is risky business. Once the game is where the devs want it the patches will slow/cease and we'll get upgrades (and likely beta branches) announced on a schedule. I'm not disagreeing with the value of what you're asking for, but right now they're focused on fixing whats broken in the current version. It is slowing down already, we have gone from multiple patches a week to maybe one.
