Bizarre Matter Transportation Bug

Recommended Posts

Normally I'd post this on the bug forum, but I have no idea how this is happening, the steam is somehow going straight up through the tiles as soon as the doors close. I was wondering if anyone knew why this is happening.

Here's a save of the exact mechanism, flip the automation while steam is coming through to trigger it. it doesn't happen every time though.

Matter Transportation.sav

The way I discovered this is that I kept finding water in this room, which was confusing since there is no feasible way water can even reach it.

Try to keep a steady hand when making a video like that. Don't scroll the screen when it isn't needed and don't make rapid mouse movements. It distracts from the focus of what you are trying to show and it's annoying to look at when you aren't in control yourself.

As for the steam transfer, there is something about the ability to move up to the first non-solid cell, which can trigger weird behavior. I suspect the bottom door is constructed first and that there is some list of buildings somewhere, which makes the doors close in the order they are built. This means the bottom door closes, moves the steam to the top door, which then instantly closes and that somehow makes the steam continue upwards.

It sounds like a bug to me. I don't get why the steam didn't move to the side.

Sorry about the poor video quality, I'll replace it shortly with a higher quality recording that is less distracting

It has been replaced

I'll attempt to re-construct the doors in the opposite order to see if this resolves the issue

I remember there was a change quite a while ago that was supposed to prevent matter deletion by doors. Instead it was teleported above. I think that`s what is happening there. It`s intended to prevent matter deletion. Maybe there is a gas clonflict near your doors and it causes it to trigger.

I almost forgot this interaction existed. I see it`s still in the game.
