How to create a mod that *replaces* existing sprites/animations?

Hi! Is there anything special about mods that replace existing sprites? Is it enough to just "throw" new animations or would I have to write some code commands to let the game know which sprite file(s) should be replaced? Thank you in advance!

Sorry, m8. I don't know enough about it to answer. Perhaps it's just including new anim files and making a prefab postinit where you change the anim bank and build of the prefab? If the prefab changes anims, then maybe that approach will get annoying.
