It would be great to have an opportunity to keep researches indefinitely. To improve materials, energy efficiency, developing machines that give all its product to tubes, not as a puddle. It may take huge time and tons of material, luck and artefacts from space, that even better. I don't want to use mods or exploits to get infinit store, id better play research to make the store better and better until I satisfied. The same with the wires. I want to get materials witch can stand melted tungsten, by the way, IRL such material already developed. There's no need to hard code millions of new types of elements, i need repeating projects, that improve different properties of goods. They should cost more and more, but it will give a feeling of eternity and potence.

This would require a change how the research stations work.

On some maps you dont have infinite excess of water. Dirt is another problem. 

Maybe the infinite research would depend only on data banks.
