Dynamix_Roxx
Hi, I’m writing this to say I stopped playing DST on PS4 shortly after not receiving The Forge in late 2017 or early in 2018. Posted November 6, 2018 Hey there. The Forge will be returning to console at some point. We'll have more details in a future announcement. I missed The Gorge as well. I read the DST 2019 roadmap and came back to play this March, expecting new content, biomes and creatures coming in mid-April. Update: Then in the end of April. Update: Now mid-May for a “Beta” I understand you are all hard at work over there. I really enjoy the game. I’ve been playing the same version since I bought it with a few skin changes. I haven’t seen one major update. I’ve seen two new characters added since about 2016. Is there any reason to believe I’m going to see new content before the summer is over on consoles? Preferably at the same time as PC so I don’t have to watch them enjoy the new content. If the content isn’t ready for all platforms, don’t release it. Also, maybe don’t set or give out any deadlines until you are further along in the development process. No one likes the fact that you missed two deadlines already. I just don’t want to see mid-April turn into late September on PS4. Thank you, I do appreciate all your hard work Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/105386-can-console-users-get-updates-at-the-same-time/ Share on other sites
Sinister_Fang
It's just not that easy. Updates for games on consoles need to go through certification, and that costs both money and time. They could not do that for every update, especially if they're looking for player feedback and bug reports. PC is more of an "open" platform, and that allows them to make more frequent changes without having to wait for a 3rd party verify those changes. So this allows them to release content on the PC, fix the bugs they missed, change things based on player feedback, then ship a more complete update over to consoles. This is why you don't see very many games in a beta state on consoles, and why the few that do exist have long windows in-between updates. Dynamix_Roxx
I asked Klei why Wortox was delayed for PS4 and they explained certification to me. I understand how betas work as well. I don’t mind missing out on the beta, even though I’d like to see it on PS4. When all the bugs are fixed and it’s ready to be released, it should be released on all platforms simultaneously though. The beta window is currently a month and a half. Get certification done during that period or shortly after. When certification is done, then announce a release date for all.
