Pop Guy
I am very happy with the new changes they have made to Winona. I had a quick run with her on a Klei server this morning, and now it's fun to use: it consumes little hunger and build quickly, as it should have been from the beginning. I have not had the opportunity to test the spotlights but if now they light up and follow different players they have reached their existential goal :'D So is Winona perfect now? I don't think so: The catapults I still believe should at least be built with gears and require to be loaded with ammunition (flint, stone, nitro, gold... things like that), but matters relatively: what matters most is that now Winona has become a fun character to play, beyond the catapults. It was the only thing that really needed, and now we have it. Long live Klei. BeliarBAD
i just tested the spotlights. they have larger radius and work very well if 2 players are in range. i also made 2 generators whit each 2 spotlights and we were 2 players and we had both 2 lights on us. my idea for the catapults would be they need some reapir after a while which only wiona can do. she could use her tape for that. there could be like 4 states. if the catapults dont get repaired by wiona for a long time then also she cant repair them anymore. cause she has only her tapes to fix it a bit and not to repair broken things. this way players coudnt just use her catapults without having a wiona in the world. But this will also encourage players to babysit in/the base or otherwise spend more time around base when incentive should be the opposite - dynamism: explore/run more around the world for various events and resources/loot. Your idea could be tweaked a bit in this regard with Catapults needing some form of maintenance only if used a certain number of times (marked by a specific number of complete refillings of powering generator(s)) so if not in use almost at all, player is free to roam map for long/very long time periods without finding said Catapults broken-beyond-repair when returning to base. maradyne
just gonna paste my response to that from the other place it was posted 32 minutes ago, lifetheuniverse said: Self-inflicted damage from use, combined with removing their health regen but letting them be repaired with Flex Tape, would be something to keep her involved in gameplay. Maybe give them a state where they're 'broken', non-functional, but can still be repaired, so the self-destruction doesn't catch the player by surprise too much; and so you don't get blindsided for not babysitting the farm area. Multiple levels of visible damage so we know how long they have left. Basically, make their health function like Walls, using Flex Tape to fix them rather than more of the same item. The idea is that they'd take a minuscule amount of damage each time they fire. It requires some light upkeep from Winona specifically. Also tosses out the weird auto-repair on a non-organic object in favor of a repair mechanic, and some insurance for bad scenarios. Also feels like it would be a good alternative to requiring ammo. Some form of upkeep for ranged weaponry.
