Where is my worlds?

Recommended Posts

Given the snap you provided, I think I know what happened as it happened to me before, but I don't know what causes it.

You see that folder with a bunch of numbers in them? That's where the cluster folders (same as saying save folders) are supposed to be for Steam Account X. Before you do anything, DON'T simply copy paste the cluster folders into the numbered folder. Do this instead (your saves are safe as long as you don't delete them):

  1. Launch DST. Go to Host Game, and launch a fresh world (with or without caves enabled if you had caves enabled).
  2. Wait for the world to launch. Once you get the character selection screen, disconnect.
  3. Inside the numbered folder (Numbered Folder -> Cluster_1), delete/move the Caves and Master folders out of there. Inside your cluster_1 folder from the snapshot you provided, copy the Caves and Master folders into the folder where you deleted the Caves & Master folder (move Caves and Master folder in DoNotStarveTogether-> Cluster_1 to numbered folder -> Cluster_1).

Repeat this for each cluster file.

Considering that the vanilla max amount of client saves is 5, but your screenshot shows a total of 12, with an indication of at least 50 I'm blaming a mod. Maybe you don't have said mod installed anymore, or it's no longer compatible and therefore can't access any saves?

I had this happen to me, yet I have never used any save mods. I think if one's PC has multiple steam accounts on a single PC, the cluster files no longer used the Klei\DoNotStarveTogether folder but instead use Klei\DoNotStarveTogether\[Bunch of numbers for Steam Account X] folder to store the save files for each account.

What I also think is also plausible (and what I think happened to me) was at some point, there was a restructure in how saves are stored to its current state (mentioned above) for newer players. If you're an older player for DST, it really wouldn't affect you unless you were to do something like maybe verify the integrity of the game files (like I had to do), which would update the structure of how the game would look for your save slots, leading to the issue that OP is currently facing.

Regardless, the steps I provided earlier should solve this situation, as that was what I did at the time as well as before posting to re-verify that I remembered things correctly.
