im new to the game and i have no idea what to do next, anything to add/upgrade would be helpful

Explore. Best not to the slime biomes though. Slimelung might be a problem if you don`t have deodorizers yet.

You got only 7.5 t of coal. That might not last too long. Better try finding an alternate power source. Natural gas geysers appear on every map. Try finding one for a more robust power system.

You have a lot of CO2 in your base. One algae terrarium won`t deal with it. I can`t see what is your oxygen production (only the one terrarium). You could use more of those to deal with the CO2 or build a carbon skimmer. Later you should use electrolizers for oxygen production but only after you find a water geyser.

You shouldn`t smelt all your copper ore into copper. It`s needed to create atmo suits and those are super useful for exploration and required to safely mine the oil and space biomes. Eventually you want to get to space and for that you`ll need steel. For steel you need lime and the easiest way to get it is to crush fossils from the oil biome in the rock crusher.

You`d also want to iinsulate your base so your farms don`t overheat. A double layer of insulated tiles (out of any rock) works pretty nice as insulation. For other applications it`s good to get some ceramic using the kiln. You`d need a lot of ceramic so it`s best to start producing it early.

You should try to increase decor in your base. Eventually you need higher tier jobs so dupes will have higher morale requirements. Then move away from mealwood so they can eat soem higher tier foods. You could also add showers for a nice morale boost.

When you get a rancher try ranching some hatches for meat and extra coal, next try to make a drecko ranch. The dreckos are harder as they need plants growing in the ranch to feed and hydrogen for their scales to regrow. Once you manage to ranch a few glossy dreckos they will serve as a nice source of plastic.

Look around and define a goal.

"I would like to make use of that geyser nearby. Let's excavate it!"

"I want to catch that critter over there and make a ranch for it."

"I need this material, so i should get to these rocks and dig them out."

"I want to know how the bottom/top of the map looks like!"

"I want more dupes. How do i get the food and oxygen for them?"

"I am running out of water, i need to get to that pool/ice."

"I am running on mealwood, but i would like to explore a different food source for more variation."

 

And apart from that, you should start making use of "rooms". If you enclose an area with doors/walls, they can form a room, which grants your dupes specific boni. This might improve the quality of your sleeping areas.
