Inputs : 6 kg gold, 6 GigaJoule of electricity Fuel efficiency, 20000 km / kg Takes DOUBLE the time for each trip, relative to other rockets. Sasza22 Posted February 7, 2019 Share Posted February 7, 2019 How about instead of making it the main engine let it work as an extra thruster. Instead of taking double the flight time it would reduce it and increase the range. Ion engines IRL aren`t too effective for launch and landing but are pretty good for long journeys in space. It should be the main engine after takeoff. I`m thinking of it as a more advanced soild fuel thruster.
