This is unjust for the poor dupes. On high difficulty the game basically mandates a caste system where miner/builder dupes would never reach high tiers as miners / builders spend 80% of their daytime in (usually) a negative decor area that you cannot efficiently offset.

Jokes aside I think this change is good, maybe a wee bit of finetuning is needed but my base looked stuped with rows and rows of marbe statues surrounding bedrooms.

I agree that just doing decor overkill was (still is actually) a bit too easy. I do not use a caste-system though, everybody learns everything and I usually do not take yokels. Still no problem on regular survival. If you go for higher moral needs that caste system may become necessary.
