Quality of Life Possible Improvements

[The list is not finished, and a bit late] I have compiled a list with the changes I would like to see with the Q.O.L. update for Don't Starve and possibly Don't Starve Together that I think would make the game better.

First of all, I have made a vocabulary used for this purpose so it's cleaner :

And I have divided this list into 4 categories :

  • [PrtT] - The ability to hammer structure using spacebar (currently, the first hit must be done with right-click)
  • [PrtT] - The inability to search through containers if in complete darkness
  • [PrtT] - The ability for the Thermal Stone to produce light when fully heated
  • [PrtT] - The ability for Armor to share the Damage Dealt between pieces.
  • [PrtT] - And thus, lowering the Armor durability, to match DST (and of course, buff the Beekeeper Hat durability)
  • [PrtT] - Add More Map Icons from the New Reign

  • [DS] - The ability to have multiple Crafting Tabs on the last slot (currently, you can only craft from the Ancient tab in RoG, from the Volcanic tab in SW and Key To The City tab in Ham, the ability would come in handy if there will be more crafting station in DS, like in DST and of course when using a Key To The City tab in a non Ham world)
  • [DS] - Cleaner Menu (the ability to change background color/music, scroll bars in Mods/Controls/World Customization tabs, be more user friendly)
  • [DS] - The Crafting Menu should be a little bigger (mostly because of my OCD, similar to how it is in DST)
  • - Abigail Should follow the player when they get far away instead of fighting whatever mob she was fighting
  • - Quick Drop to drop items under your feet (like on the console releases)
  • - Make Items Dropped on the ground and mobs walking by not mess with Structure Placing
  • - Enhanced textures (older assets mostly, they are really blurry)
  • - The Bug Net is renamed to Net
  • - Examining The Thermal Measurer should say in how many days the next season will come, whereas examining The Rain-o-Meter should say in how many days until it rains
  • - Beefaloes lured by the Beefalo Horn should not wander to their old herd and instead they should start a new one
  • - Meat Items placed in a Closed Backpack should not Aggro Bunnymen and could provide a slower way for items to get wet

Balance Changes

  • [DST] - Items placed inside Mushroom Lights and End Tables take longer to spoil (80% slower) while the festive lights take no hit on their durability
  • [DST] - Festive lights should be refuelable with Light Bulbs (1 Bulb for 100% durability)
  • [DST] - The Glosammer Saddle should be crafted with 40 Butterfly wings instead of 68
  • [DST] - Grass Gekkos shouldn't spawn from planted Grass Tufts
  • [DST] - Disease should be curable by fertilizing the plant again
  • [DS] - Dragonfly hibernates after Summer, like Bearger, and despawn in Winter
  • [DS] - Poison Should remain indefinitely affecting the player until they reach around 30 hp, where it will stop, until either the player heals up for it to take effect once more or cures it
  • [DS] - The Life Giving amulet should revive the player if it is in the Player's inventory, no need to wear it
  • [SW] - The Tropical Parasol should be able to be used as fuel, similar to the Pretty Parasol for 90sec
  •  - The Wax Paper should be crafted with Honeycomb and Papyrus, Beeswax is pointless
  • - Mobs on Fire shouldn't be able to set nearby objects on fire (illogical but balances Fire Staff, Fire Dart and anything Fire related)
  • - The Pumpkin lantern should last indefinitely, if you left-click on it the character should pick it up and if you attack it with Ctrl + Left-Click then the Pumpkin Breaks while releasing the Fireflies
  • - The Insulated Pack and Sea Sack should have the same storage size as a backpack
  • - Fire Darts should deal 50 base damage to mobs beside the regular fire damage (and 100 damage to Fish mobs)
  • - Bee Mines should be crafted with stingers rather than bees (Illogical but balanced, they still should spawn bees)
  • - The Scalemail and Obsidian Armor should have 80% protection
  • - The Limestone suit should have 85% protection
  • - The Cork Bat should be crafted with 2 cork and 2 logs
  • - The Blunderbuss should deal 400 damage
  • - The Tail o' Three Cats should have a range of 2.5 so you can hit birds without them flying away
  • - Potted Ferns should be crafted with 5 broken shells and 1 fern, and should also have a sanity aura of 0,5/sec
  • - One Man Band should take 8 minutes before it breaks
  • - Night Lights should only take 4 Gold and should work Similar to The Maxwell Lights from Adventure Mode, staying true to their name
  • - The Bat Bat should have 100 durability and be repairable with bat wings (20%)
  • - The Nightmare Amulet should only cost 1 Purple Gem and 3 Gold Nuggets
  • - The Telelocator Staff and The Lazy Deserter should also work in Caves and Ruins
  • - The Particulate Purifier should give 3 sanity/min while also disallowing the Gas from the Gas Rainforest biome from Hamlet to damage the player
  • - The Gas Mask should be usable to negate poisonous attacks from stink rays and poison holes from SW
  • - The Pick/Axe should use Nightmare Fuel rather than Thulecite, as the whole Item is not that useful
  • - The Lazy Forager should be able to gather items from grass tufts, sapling etc
  • - When the Houndious Shootius dies, it should drop back as an Item
  • - Various Crockpot Food Values should be rechecked so they're not obsolete

Even after the QOL, the game still has a lot of inconsistencies

About what you're asking to be changed in [BG]. Every DLC is independent, that's why you need to chose "compatibility". That way DLC uses assets (sprites, animation) and rules from version, you chose compatibility with. If you don't chose compatibility, game uses original DLCs data, and I'm not sure devs should change that. I think it's fine to rebalance game on DLC by DLC basis, it means all changes applied to the latest DLC, and you can play any world using ruleset from one of DLCs.

On another hand, it's not fair to those, who doesn't own a DLC, I guess?

On the most part, I agree with your petition.
