Rocket automation, return trip control.

Recommended Posts

It seems that the rocket automation input controls launch, which is great.

It would be very awesome if it would also control the landing too.

How it currently is : Rocket only cares about input automation during launch. Does not care about it during landing.

How it should be :  if the rocket input automation is not receiving an active signal when automation is being used to control it, the rocket will not land, until the active signal is given.

I think this would give much greater control over when the rocket is allowed to land, and make different approaches to rockets more viable.

The big problem as it is : Scanners now detect incoming rockets. Scanners are protected by bunker doors. Bunkers close during meteors. Scanners aren't detecting rockets if bunker doors are closed. Returning rocket does not get detected, smashes through gantries etc...

An example of this change in action : You are using bunker doors over your rocket to protect vital spots from meteors. This could either be for a rocket silo, or just in space. The scanner network controls whether the doors are open or closed, based on if there are meteors incoming or not. You then have a scanner detecting whether or not the rocket is incoming.

If there are both no meteors, and the rocket is ready to land, then using an AND-gate, a signal can be sent to the rocket's automation input, telling it that is safe to land, and once the rocket's input signal becomes active, it will then do so. This also gives the player time to retract any bunker doors and gantries.
