Ocean Fishing + Bumblebees!

So I was watching How It's Made, and they were doing fish sticks. Something about throwing fish directly onto ice to fast-freeze them, and while I was thinking about that, I realized 'Wait, we can't fish in the ocean..'

 

I think it'd be neat if there was more options for fishing, aka traps, nets, etc. Peg a rope to the shore and throw a net or a box over, haul it out later with fish/crabs/ravenous leeches/etc. Small fish, big fish, the sea ancestors of the rock lobster, a pair of mis-matched fashionable Beefalo fur boots from the 1800's, there's plenty to be found in the sea.

 

It'd encourage people to camp near oceans, but instead of making the nets/traps irritatingly difficult to make since well, they're just nets and boxes made of sticks, have some kind of aquatic boss that gets real pissed over you fishing up all the wildlife.

 

A giant fish? The ugliest shark mermaid known to man? The Loch Ness Monster? An anglerfish with two tiny little legs and bulging eyes that light up at night? Iunno but that'd make night-time fishers **** themselves.

 

Increase the chances of said boss spawning over number of days, plus a minimum number of catches to get their attention and make them angry, which reduces over the number of days. Like the Treeguard of the sea, but goddamn hideous.

Player can fish from the ocean using nets and traps to gather larger quantities of edible sealife, but at the risk of summoning a glowing ugly fish monster. Chance of summoning ugly fish increases at the same rate as the Treeguard. Cannot be calmed or tamed. Eyeballs light up at night, fins have a minor glow effect. Does not sleep at night, wanders, aggressive but doesn’t chase the player far.

Animation:

Bulging eyeballs glow yellow and wobble on stalks. Hops and wiggles tail in the air to move around. Fins flop around as it moves, aka fake jigglebones. Eyeballs turn red at -50% health and mouth becomes angry.

 

Attacks:

Bite: Bites player. Very short range.

Groundpound: Slams face-first into the ground on top of player. Med range.

Tail Swipe: Spins and slaps player with tail. Long range.

 

Drops:

1x Glo-Fish - ‘This is probably illegal somewhere.’

Can be used as miner hat fuel, consumed, burned for temporary increased light radius of firepit/campfire. Regains Sanity and Hunger but reduces Health.

 

3x Ugly Teeth - ‘Pointy!’

Used to craft walls [1x Ugly Teeth + 3x Rope = 3 Walls]. Medium strength, non-upgradable, does not catch on fire. Smells like rotten fish.

 

And for something totally unrelated:

 

Bumblebees!

 

 

Look at that precious lil fuzzball. We have a lot of bumblebees in the garden lately, swarming around this one flowering bush-tree-thing. Obese furry bees living in holes like Moleworms. Don't know what they'd drop or do, but bumblebees are unaggressive and don't produce much honey. Maybe increase flower spawns around their nesting area.

 

Bonus points if you can dig up the hive, take the queen, stick her on your shirt and walk around with a gigantic mass of bumblebees buzzing on you all winter.

Updated post with a design for the fish boss that I scribbled on paper while not starving then drew while watching TV. I'd do edited screenshots for it but I'm tired and I'll need to take some pictures for the base first.
