There's a few traits I think might find a decent home in ONI without making duplicants too imbalanced.

A positive trait wherein the duplicant is more adept at holding their breath in unbreathable areas. Maybe able to hold their breath for like 25% longer before needing air. There could also be an inversed negative trait wherein they can't hold their breath as long. 'cause not everybody can hold their breath for the exact same amount of time. Some are better at it than others. So this is a trait that would enable them to hold their breath for more (Or less) time in unbreathable areas or while underwater.

A xenophobic negative trait wherein the duplicant is afraid of any type of alien within a 3 tile radius of them. So basically like an amplified version of Scaredy-Cat. They will stop any job they are currently doing and attempt to get away from the creature, be it Hatch, Morb, or Puft. If incapable of doing so (Being cornered), their bladder will rise sharply in response. If there is an alternate path to their job destination, they will attempt to use that instead, no matter how much longer it takes to get there.

A tertiary stress response to run parallel to destructive or vomit. The duplicant could alternatively be a ranter. When their stress level gets too high, they stop in their tracks and start noisily ranting and raving (Depicted through a cascading cacophony of unhappy and angry squeaking noises). This has the effect of causing stress levels to rise for duplicants within a 5-tile radius (Assuming line of sight is not disrupted by something like tiles). The ranting duplicant's own stress level however, will drop while ranting. So basically distributing the stress among other nearby duplicants.

Thermal tolerance traits could also be a possibility. The duplicant has a higher or lower heat or frost tolerance. Which means they can go to colder or hotter temperatures than other duplicants, before starting to feel uncomfortable. This won't outright eradicate the need of appropriate clothing in the respective environments, but make it so they can manage working in those conditions more longer (Or less longer if a negative trait), before needing to find a more stable temperature environment.

Also, I feel like duplicants with the night owl trait shouldn't be affected with the "Interrupted Sleep" debuff. Or at least should have a reduced chance or version of it.

Also, maybe duplicants should have a "favorite food" type of trait between meal lice, blossom berries, liceloaf, and (Weirdly enough) mush bars. And when they eat that specific type of food, they gain double the kcal from it. It'd encourage a diverse amount of food to improve efficiency. And of course to make things easier on the player, they'll beeline for that specific type of food, if it's available.

That's about all I can think of right now. Anything interesting in that jumble of nonsense?

Could be fun to watch and simply recycle the mechanic from the 'loud sleepers', so easy to implement.
