Crash on launch after update - Windows 10

EDIT, READ FIRST PLEASE: the aplha was still activated on my pc, which I guess, after reading the news, is what causes this problem. I followed these steps:

To anyone still experiencing this problem: While the game is closed:

Could you try going to your OxygenNotIncluded install folder (right-click the game, Properties -> Local Files -> Browse Local Files), then delete the StreamingAssets folder (which is found in OxygenNotIncluded_Data).

Then, right-click ONI -> Properties -> Local Files -> Verify Integrity of Game Files

Let me know if this resolves it for you. Thanks!

And the game does indeed launch now. I got a popup about save files being moved, which appears to have gone fine. Testing gameplay as we speak... Yes, a new game works just fine. It would have been nice if there was a better way to end the alpha, but I understand that that might not be possible - or high on the priorites list.

END OF EDIT

"Missing substance or anim for element". I played yesterday evening (timezone UTC=1) without trouble. This morning (after 11 AM) i tried to start up, first had an update, now this crash happened.

Steps to Reproduce

Startup game after most recent update (at this time should be less than 24 hours ago).

I had it also,

Fix delete your saves or buy the DLC :-(

Did I ninja edit you? Sorry!

The vanilla game worked again after the steps I mentioned in my edit. Just bought the DLC :D  the Steam store page doesn't have the option yet... Are we that early? XD

@Kurtschatow it's not necessary to delete any save files, instead please follow these instructions:

It seems that some old files from the DLC are getting stuck in the install folder. Some things to try:

  • Right-click ONI -> Properties -> Local Files -> Browse local files .... go into the OxygenNotIncluded_Data folder and delete StreamingAssets, then Properties -> Local Files -> Verify Integrity of Game Files
  • Uninstall and reinstall the game through steam
  • Browse to the local files as above, uninstall the game, after uninstall finishes delete any files that are left over in the SteamApps/common/OxygenNotIncluded folder, and then reinstall.

Please be careful when deleting files on your hard drive!

  • Thanks 2
