Thermal transfer from door to metal tiles broken

In the attached save, there is a door at 460C that does transfer only minimal heat to two metal tiles next to it (at 125C, no large heatsink attached to them). The problem persists on save/load but goes away immediately if the door is destroyed and rebuilt with the same material, nicely demonstrating the earlier behavior is broken. The save is centered on the problem door.

I did have the same problem earlier with the same door, but it fixed itself somehow, probably due to save/restore. Not this time.

Steps to Reproduce

Watch not much heat get transferred. Tear down door and rebuild with same material, watch a lot of heat suddenly getting transferred as it should

I think the door is normal.
I haven't calculated it in detail, but I guess it's because of the heat transfer mechanism around here.

When I placed natural tiles with the same mass and temperature as the door (Wolframite) and metal tile (Steel), heat transfer stopped as well.

However, this is unnatural at first glance, so even if the mechanism is normal, I'm not sure if it's correct as a game.

Hmm. Possibly. Now I have to find a way to fix that very counter-intuitive behavior. Because this construction runs into the problem time and again when the gold slowly cools. Second door from different material so one of the two keeps transferring well?

Anyways, thanks for the link.

kbn is on point, both blocks at 19.64 MDTU.

You probably found a workaround by now, still, here's my solution:
Replace the corner metal tile with a gold one. If either, steel or gold are near equilibrium with the door, the other element will tip the balance because of the vastly different SHC (resulting in different Total Heat and heat transfer). If you think gold's melting point is too low, use Tungsten. Any other SHC tile would probably work...

Another solution would be a TSP.

I fixed it by adding a 2nd door from steel at around 3x the SHC. Then either the Wolframite or the Steel door conducts well. Pretty obvious once the problem is understood. I just never built a volcano-tamer of this type before, so I never had the thermal transfer over a very large temperature range that all gets hit. The 460C this ground to an (almost) halt at is way higher than what you usually run into.

It is really amazing how I run into new effects in Oni.
