That's the pipe that is filling and emptying. The content of the sink is visible if you click it and scroll down. Last entry, I think.

Just put more water in the system or rather don't split it up unless it's full.

A save file, for example. It would help devs. :)

 

Hve you tried to break the loop on the clean water pipe ? In your screenshots it seem to go back to the starting point.

Well when the water goes through the sinks it fills the sink and then empties it.

Click on the sink and watch the white info panel on the bottom right. It would list the contents of the sink itself.

The "pipe empty" just means its input is empty, but it might still have a buffer stored inside of it (5kg IIRC).
