May 18th update - Dups do not respond to the new massage table settings

Bangie
  • Branch: Live Branch Pending

Issue #1: Change - The new patch does now not allow the user to directly assign a dup to the massage table to reduce stress.

Issue #2: New Feature - The massage table has min/max thresholds, to auto-assign the dups when their stress goes up. This is not functioning properly, the dups are not going to massage at all, under any circumstances. Eventually the dups get too stressed, and the gameplay stops due to the inability of the dups to work.

Recommendation:

#1 - revert the function back to pre-May18th version, so the user is able to play the game fully, and can assign the dups directly to the tables.

#2 - fix the min/max thresholds. When that function is fixed, I would recommend having BOTH options available- min/max or direct assignment - permanently on the massage table, so the user has options, and/or a workaround if there are future bugs in the new functionality.

Technically its a sev 2, but since there's no real work-around, it feels more like a sev 1. The dups behaviour kills the ability to play the game. No point in playing until it's fixed.

Steps to Reproduce
During gameplay, create a massage table. Set the Min/Max thresholds (I tried a variety of settings - 0/10; 2/12; 15/50, 0/0; etc) Watch the dups vitals, when the stress levels reach the assigned thresholds, they do not go to the massage table and there is no way to directly assign them. Dups begin to exhibit signs of stress, halting gameplay.

User Feedback

#1: Please, do not revert, just don't.

#2: Prerequisites to make the tables work:

  • the massage table needs to be powered (wheel with high enough priority and a big battery is a good setup)
  • have the priority set accordingly (=higher then any other available jobs the duplicant in question is allowed to do, 8 is a good setting)
  • the duplicant needs to have more stress than what is set in the 'max stress' setting (50 is a good setting)
  • minimum stress slider must be set lower than the maximum one, this one sets the threshold that'll release the duplicant when its stress falls below this mark (0-20 is a good setting)
  • the duplicant must be allowed to use the building in the jobs menu

Set it up like this and it'll work.

Hint: it'll never be used should you constantly give priority-9 orders or in case it isn't powered.

My dupes had a similar issue. I had good power, tables set at low stress 12 high stress 50, they got stressed but would not go to the table. Then they got so mad/upset/stressed they wouldn't run the generators, which then would not have the power to run the tables. Vicious cycle and dupes were destroying the base with vomit and behavior. or just sitting and crying.
