With the new skills system instead of jobs, interests have changed to give a reduction in the morale requirement instead of increasing mastery speed of a job.
The tooltip in the dupe selection screen hasn't been changed yet though.

start new game when the initial dupe selection screen is shown, hover over interests

A developer has marked this issue as fixed. This means that the issue has been addressed in the current development build and will likely be in the next update.
