I have a blank black screen whenever I create a new game

I have the same problem after the latest update.  At first I had the bug being reported in the thread Game Doesn't Start on OSX.  After uninstalling, reinstalling, clearing steam's cache (with appropriate restarts), I got the game to start.  Per attachments, you can see that the attract screen shows, but when I start the game, I get the same result as bad_At_games.  

I clicked the "Browse log files" and "browse save files" buttons and neither opens a finder window.  Neither can I find the folders referenced in the other thread.

Please help so that I can play my game again.
