When you build a gantry as close to a rocket as you're allowed, the rocket launches fine but destroys the gantry upon return.
It's not heat damage, the engine hits the gantry I Think, but it doesn't hit it when launching the rocket, only when the rocket returns. (Well actually I think it does hit it upon launch, but it doesn't damage it somehow- maybe that was an incomplete fix from some time ago?) I don't actually remember if this effects all engines, but I'm using a petroleum engine rn.
I searched first and see lots of talk about this in Spaced Out DLC, but no mention of the problem in vanilla, so here's a fresh bug to track <3
Build a gantry at the closest distance allowed, so the far edge of the command pod door lines up perfectly with the end of the gantry. Looks great!
Now launch the rocket. Still great
Watch the rocket return however, and it will destroy your gantry, whether it was retracted or not.
For the moment only workaround I have is to leave the gantry extended and allow it to be destroyed, else the pilot is trapped inside until someone can come rescue him by repairing the gantry..
Would be luvly if you could possibly either remove the (faulty?) collision of the rocket part(s), or add an invis block to the gantry when previewing to build, to prevent it being built too close to the rocket. The former would be nicer I think hehe luv yas!
