Fog of War visual bug PC

  • Branch: Live Branch Version: Windows Fixed

I've seen similar bugs and been attempting to try the fixes others have listed to no avail. Where fog of war should be, instead the entire map is revealed but any element is listed as unknown. I've disabled all mods thinking it was some sort of interaction, but that hasn't worked. Also tried changing resolutions.

Including logs to help.

Steps to Reproduce

I loaded the game, then started a new world.

User Feedback

A developer has marked this issue as fixed. This means that the issue has been addressed in the current development build and will likely be in the next update.

From looking over that thread, it does appear to be the same bug. I'm not the most technologically savvy individual, how do I go about updating drivers for my graphics settings?

You can try the drivers found here. Select Windows 7 (64-bit). If that doesn't work could you attach your dxdiag? Instructions here on how to generate one.

Are there other means of obtaining these drivers? I'm on a hand-me-down machine that has been put together from a few different computers, and I have been waiting roughly 20 minutes for it to detect what drivers I have and what needs to be updated. I also attempted getting support from HP but without the original information of the computer I wasn't able to log in and get assistance.

Your graphics driver hasn't been updated in 10 years. The latest driver should be from 2020. I'm not sure why you're unable to update your driver but this is something you'll need to troubleshoot.

The driver you are looking for is likely version 10.18.10.5161 (Date: 06.08.2020). Your CPU is "Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3230M" and it has "Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000" integrated graphics which might help in your search.

Could the install issue be that I am still running on windows 7 because I'm a cranky old man and don't like updates/change?

I know that came off as a joke, which I mildly meant it to be, but legit I am running windows 7 entirely because I hate how any of the later versions appear and operate. But IFF that is the issue, I can update and upgrade.

Drivers are also delivered through through Windows Update so you could try updating and it may find the right drivers. There's no guarantee it will fix your issue though so only update/upgrade if you're comfortable doing so.

Alright. So it took diving through many different tutorials that all failed, buying a new SSD, and getting windows 10, but the driver FINALLY actually updated. This did fix the problem, happily. Thank you for your time, Eric.
