despite it not being checked in the consumables my dupes keep eating meal lice and bristle berries (not growing anything else currently). it's a problem as i then don't have the ingredients available to make the meals

Not a bug, but definitely a big problem! :)

Turner is exhibiting his Stress response trait of being a Binge Eater because he's at 100% stress. When he is Binge Eating, he ignores the consumables table and eats anything that is available.

You will need to keep his stress below 100% or else he will continue to eat all your food.
