Duplicants frozen in place after red alert

  • Branch: Live Branch Version: Windows Fixed

One of my dupes trapped himself on the surface right before everybody went to bed (yeah most of them are on the same schedule, but that's beside the point), so I made a red alert so somebody would build the tile rather than leave him there all night, and I ended up with a few "messes" but otherwise, the tile was built, Hassan went down into the base, and everything was fine... or so I thought.

But ever since then, their ai seems to be broken. Some of them keep moving throughout the cycle (it varies which ones), but most of them step out of the toilet or shower, and freeze in place. Other times they freeze on ladders, or at the dining table. Aside from blinking, they don't move at all, not even doing the idle animation. When I click one to see the errands, it says either "test text" or the errand of the last active dupe I clicked. And they seem to always have "Supplying cook ingredients" fading in and out in their status. When I give them a move command, they move and then start the idle animation, but still don't pick up tasks. Once downtime starts they revive, eat dinner, and go to bed, but as soon as they finish their morning routine, they freeze again.

Attempted solutions:

Saving and reloading
Reloading from a previous autosave (before the red alert)
Quitting to desktop and restarting the game
Restarting the computer
Uninstalling and reinstalling the game (through Steam)

Steps to Reproduce

-Set red alert

-Clear red alert

I'm sure there must be other factors involved, but I don't know what they would be :-(

(Note: the log from when it happened seems to have been lost when I reinstalled, so the attached one is the best I have)

User Feedback

A developer has marked this issue as fixed. This means that the issue has been addressed in the current development build and will likely be in the next update.

Same issue, but with yellow alert. Now multiple dupes stand around, not "idle" (because their task bars show them as currently working on the spice grinder, but they just stand there). I think it was dupes who responded to the yellow alert, but I can't say for sure.

And now, bizarrely, the avatar of one of the non-active dupes is behind a granite statue. He's there. But you can't see him. Screen shot attached.

(You'll note that his activity is listed as "Supplying cooking ingredients," but that is greyed out, as though the system knows he's not doing what he was assigned to do?)

Well I deconstructed and reconstructed the spice grinder and it's been five cycles and so far so good... it appears the spice grinder is what ground the colony to a halt lol

I thought maybe ONI had programmed in to have dupes quietly quit when they're unhappy. Would be very 2023.
