The mods screen now displays the description from the mod.yaml file.

But I don't see an adequate way to translate this description into several languages.

To make a description only in English, or to make it into several languages at once - both are ugly.

A developer has marked this issue as fixed. This means that the issue has been addressed in the current development build and will likely be in the next update.

Changed Status to Fixed

The game will now try to interpret the name/description as a string key, otherwise it will use it as plain text.
