Crash playing back time lapse on Linux

When playing back a colony's timelapse either by going to the colony summary from within a game or from the main menu, the system crashes.  It appears that each frame of the time lapse increases the memory profile about the same amount as re-loading the save file.  This could be a compounded error, as you can load a save file 10 times in a row and get the exact same result -- out of memory crash to desktop.

Here are some screenshots of the problem in progress:

Also attached is the player.log file and my save file.

To be clear: It doesn't matter what world I generate or which save file I use.  Loading a save file has always increased the memory profile, and doing so repeatedly will eventually crash the game.  Playback of the colony timelapse appears to be a related issue, as each 'tick' of the timelapse increases the memory profile by about 1gb, which is exactly the same memory increase I see when loading a save file.

Steps to Reproduce
Create and play a world long enough to generate a time lapse of at least 10 frames. Play time lapse. Alternatively, load a save file, then load it again, and again. Repeat until crash. Note: Quitting to main menu, then loading has the same result, but quitting to the desktop will release all the used memory.
