Brine spawns out of nowhere again and again at the same spot

I keep mopping and sweeping that area for multiple cycles because there respawns brine again and again.

User Feedback

Hi, it appears the oxygen is warm enough for the flaking mechanic to take place. Could actually be called "partial melting". But who does that?

I can recommend tiling the brine ice with insulated tile to prevent this from happening any further.

In any case, I hope this provides more insight into the aforementioned mechanic even if the article is fairly old (by internet standards)

Did you check each and every oxygen tile for their temperatures? (Hopefully when paused.) Insulated gas pipe can also leak heat into the environment. The article provided has good information on the mechanic and how it triggers. This is as much information I can give with the data provided, flaking is the long time accepted culprit for liquid appearing that way.

The gas simulation works by swapping positions with other cells. With gases of the same element, this can result in some unintuitive dynamics because a "hot" oxygen cell can wander in without having enough time to cool down due to gases' poor thermal conductivity.

These "hot oxygen" pockets from the right can wander enough horizontally to heat up the oxygen above it:

This may result in a tick where the oxygen is briefly above the flaking limit.

Thank you. Now I have a clue what might happen there. Btw I opened that door there only for testing around for some time.

I still consider this as a bug even when I know now how to prevent this in the future.

A full block should not melt partially by just touching some warmer gas for a tick.

i wanna say this is still a normal game mechanic.

Probably. I have had problems like this a few times too. Was always flaking.
