Automation wire not connected to any source, but still provides a red signal.

Not sure if that's count as bug, but IMHO automation wire shouldn't provide any signal at all while not connected to the source.

Steps to Reproduce
Connect automation wire to the recipient, while not connected to the signal sourse
Go to bugs

thats the basic feature of the automation wire. Build a switch in ur wire system or build first the signal switching object.
