Elephant Cacti stumps disappearing if not planted back quickly

I'm using them to farm spiders

Two of them were taken down and I was busy to plant them quickly enough, when I came back to plant them, the stumps were gone...

This has to be a bug... 

I planted them on Magma Soil, dunno if this has something to do with this.

Steps to Reproduce
plant Elephant Cacti - have them take DMG until the stumps appear - leave them for several days - come back - stumps gone :'(

I met this bug once also.

I was using 10 elephant cactus to farm bees,

Bees knocked 1 down after several days but there was no stump left. 

But I can't reproduce this bug.
