  • DLC VERSION - IMPORTANT!: Shipwrecked, Hamlet Pending

This is not exacly a bug(sorry if I posted this in wrong place). Lantern and Tar Lamp are turned off in crafting menu, however Bottle Lantern, Boat Torch and Boat Lantern appear as turned on

User Feedback

Definitely not a bug, just a difference in art style / art style consistency... Either way, going by just the graphic, the light source is really needed for Bottle Lanterns to tell what it actually is / does. (Otherwise it just looks like another craftable Bottle.) The Boat Torch and Boat Lantern are a little tough to tell what they'd actually do without the glow. (Again, assuming you don't read item names.) The Tar Lamp and Lantern, while archaic, are pretty obvious to know what they do at a glance, even without being "lit" in the crafting graphic.

The Tar Lamp and Lantern are iconic enough that people know what it does, even if they've never seen one in real life before. (Like how Floppy Disks are the eternal "Save Icon" despite being archaic.)

This is not about the consistency of art style, for if the crafting icons for the lanterns had them be on or off the art style's consistency would remain the same. This is about the consistency of the crafting interface, and how it lacks consistency for only a few crafting icons appearing to be in their "on" state and the icons appearance looking strange with the light of the icon's item.

All of these items are in the light tab so it wouldn't be unexpected for the player to hope that the item would provide some sort of light source, or help them see better in darkness. These items names also clearly give away their purpose, "bottle lantern", "boat lantern" and "boat torch" are names that make it very clear what the intended purpose of the item is.

Reminder that, this is the bug tracker, not the suggestions section, and this is not a bug.
