Server reset my character

Milordo
  • Pending

After the update, one of my friend decide to re-open his old world (2 months) and when i was loggin, it happened......the game cancel my pg and remade a new one out of nowhere. All my days removed, all my items removed.

It already happened 2 times in a row and it's really getting on my nerves and I already tried to unistall/ verify my files, ecc......

Is this a known issue? There is something I can do?

Edit: I added the cluster, to help more about it.

SPOILER_Cluster_1.zip

Steps to Reproduce

I was just booting up the game and connecting to my friend server and finds out all my progress deleted it, just like entering the world for the first time.

User Feedback

This happened to me too but i am not hosting the server so i don't have access to logs. Except it was technically an old world but we played on it regularly before the update went live and even after the update it was fine, it just happened from what i can tell at random.

Basically it sends you to character select and you lose your inventory.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who had this nasty problem! I added the cluster save file, so it could give some help on the situation.

Did you find by chance some fix or something? I want so bad to play and explore the new patch with my friends.

Argghh, this problem makes me so angry and remove any will to play further the game. It's unpleasant to loose everything just like that, especially in a 1400 days world.

@Milordo This happened to me like 30 minutes ago so i don't know much about it. From what i can tell i can just play like normal but who knows when or if it will happen again.

I was on over 5000 day world and i lost most of my stuff since it had a mod that increased inventory space. I don't think we are able to get the character and items back.

Same issue happens after updating the dedicated server last night.

Figure it out that the server.ini file in Master/save is empty.

After copy the file from a backup, and restarted the dedicated server, everything goes right.

Or maybe the session id changes after updating, check the server log and copy Master/save/session/$sessionid to new place.

Hope it helps.

You're suggesting to just copy the server into another cluster, right? If that so, we've already tried and it didn't work. Also the world is not a dedicated server, it's just a normal one 6/6.

It's possible to rollback a lot in a world? Like 20 days or something? So maybe rollbacking fix in some way the problem? In any case, thx really really much for the help!

6/6 server? I found 10 session in your server saved sessions(Cluster_1 2/Master/save/session/0ACC6616F09970F4).

image.thumb.png.8cfb8f4e48cdc5840f7d040fce6e0977.png

in Cluster_1 2/Master/server_log.txt, you can find the following which shows the session key of a player

image.png

and inside the session directory, open file with .meta  suffix can see the character.

image.png.5a5c001adf79699f7451196d5e827f96.png

according the above, Natsume7 plays wendy, and session A7ITJHJT9EK6 also played wendy.

The problem may be that session key of same player changes, so it cannot load old session file.

Your may check the date of the session file and find out which session key belongs to whom, and delete files in new session key, and copy files from old to new.

Back up before any operations.

Okay, so.

First, thanks again really much for the help, maybe this will shed some lights on this nasty problem. Second, we did what you told us (and yes you founded 10 sessions because we're 10 xD ) but at the final part we didn't understand what you meant. What do you mean "delete files in new session key, and copy files from old to new"?  Delete all the files of that session? Delete some in particular? And then copy a new world?

Now we've been experiment a bit and we discovered that: I'm the last one in the session list, the wx one, (there are two wx, because when the bug appeared, I chose wx to see what happened). Removing all, just brought me on the selection chracter screen and some didn't resolve nothing. Before this bug, I was Wanda in the ocean. Also the save location is strange, because my save location exactly say 29/03 which was the date, the last day I was in that server with everyone else and we stopped played dst until this new patch.

I suspect the bug is because server calculates 2 session key, like AL1234(old one) and AL5678(new one) to a same user,so when user login, it cannot find the old session key(AL1234) directory, and ask to create new character in new session key(AL5678) directory.

Andddd, there is a way to find and relocate the old session key?

I checked *.meta file in every session key directory, and find it out.
