Maxwell without Dark Sword or Night Armor

I tried to master some characters I liked, and started a new world as Maxwell. For some reason, I only begin with a codex umbra and 6 nightmare fuel, no armor nor sword. This picture I took was from a modded world, but I tried without them and got the same results

Just begin a world as Maxwell and you will see it
