Kittykit keeps hissing at nothing

My Kittykit pet has begun hissing even when there are no monsters around and I'm not in combat or even remotely insane, on the off chance that it might have been hissing at shadows. I'll just be crafting or cooking in my camp, and it starts hissing like I'm fighting something. No mods. New game world created after the big ToT update.

Steps to Reproduce
Adopt a Kittykit. Go about your business crafting and cooking while close to fully sane. Kittykit sometimes starts hissing for no apparent reason.

No, it cries when it wants food. Normally it hisses only when I'm fighting monsters. But maybe hissing when it's hungry is a new thing?

When it cries it lifts one paw and looks sad and kind of goes, "Mrowr, mrawr." When it hisses its tail fluffs up and it looks scared and angry and goes "HSSSS!"
