DST Crashes upon launch.

  • Fixed

After I installed the most recent update, my game has become unable to play/launch. When I launch the game I get this menu pop up. When I try to click "exit game" or "forums", the game stops responding, then crashes. I uninstalled my mods, restarted steam, and uninstalled/reinstalled the game and still nothing seems to work. I was able to play before this update today, about 1 hour prior to the crashing.

Steps to Reproduce
I opened steam, played the game BEFORE the update, closed it, updated it, tried to launch and then it crashed.

User Feedback

A developer has marked this issue as fixed. This means that the issue has been addressed in the current development build and will likely be in the next update.

Hello @GilmoreFappy welcome to the forums. Seems like the game is getting an error with .lua files in the scripts folder. I'd recommend going to this location Steam\SteamApps\common\Don't Starve Together Beta\data\ and delete the whole scripts folder. Then open steam, and verify the integrity of the game cache for DST. Right click DST > Properties > Local Files > Verify the Integrity of the Game Cache. Then try the game again.

Report back with the client_log.txt from Documents\Klei\DoNotStarveTogether if it still crashes.

I have the same problem.

I aslo disabled/uninstalled my mods and game, cleared the data script folder, then i verified the game cache. It's still not working.

Thanks for help.

@GilmoreFappy Thanks for reporting this. Do you recall which mods you were running? Could you please make the game crash again, and then upload Documents\klei\DoNotStarveTogether\client_log.txt? That would be very helpful!

I was using 4 client mods, auto movement prediction disabled, dusk and night music, quick emotes, and status announcements.

The log contained the info I need. This has been fixed on our end, and will be resolved in the next hotfix (which is coming shortly). Sorry for the problems. :(

Huh. So I just fixed it by wiping out every DST folder/file I could find on my PC.
