A developer has marked this issue as fixed. This means that the issue has been addressed in the current development build and will likely be in the next update.

This is intended and is not a bug.

Quote

If the burrow is dug up while the moleworm is inside, the moleworm does not spawn and a moleworm spawn point is destroyed.

Just let the mole leave it's burrow then dig it to get the minerals the mole stole got there.
