When trying to generate a server with Caves from the in-game menu using a set of worldgen settings set to minimal (basically trying to generate as empty of a world as possible), the Master generation succeeds, but the Caves generation often fails while trying to find places to spawn things.
There's a small chance of success, but in most cases, the generation will fail 5 times, eventually giving up.
[00:00:57]: An error occured during world and we give up! [was 5 of 5 ]
Then stall out after a bit, unless a lucky success occurs early on.
Sometimes I've gotten it on the second try, less than a minute into the process; but that seems to be a rarity.
This is without any mods enabled.
The same client succeeds in generating the Caves when using normal/more normal worldgen settings.
Note about events within the log:
[00:09:23] and beyond did not display until minimizing the game window to paste the log the first time.
[00:13:00] is the moment that I cancelled world generation.
For the Caves server, set all items in World Settings and World Generation to their minimal setting (left arrow).
High failure rate in Caves occurs regardless of Master worldgen settings.
Master will succeed in its generation regardless of whether or not it has comparable settings.
