Currently there is no way to tell a Dupe to not take an item out of a storage container. Unless we want to lock each and every container behind a single door which I know there are not enough resources for until we start to get them from other planets. We Need a lock check box for each item contained inside the storage building. So that if there are 2 different containers and 1 item has germs while the other does not we can lock the item so that they can not be removed from the container. Also this goes for items that may be too hot to use right away . etc. etc. for any reason we may want or need to keep it where it is until we want it.. Currently you can change the priority of containers but all that does is make them empty the lower storage into the higher. This is a MUST have in this game because it currently is a mess to try and micro manage each dupe that is grabbing something from somewhere we do not want them to grab from.. It is not fun to constantly worry about this aspect of the game especially when I much rather watch them do the tasks that I set them to do. I am currently pausing setting them to do tasks elsewhere and then hovering over my containers and making sure they grab from the right ones. In other words I am never watching anything else but the containers: Does that sound like Fun too you? No it doesn't. Sasza22 Posted November 8, 2018 Share Posted November 8, 2018 I`m confused. How often do you have something stored you don`t want dupes to touch? Hot rock? I just never pick it up and lock the area. Hot dirt? I just store it in water so it cools down faster. Slime is getting stored under water so it won`t offgas. Germy stuff gets stored in chlorine so it gets disinfected. I never had a scenario where i had something in storage i didn`t want to use. If i had problematic stuff i just locked the area instead of sweeping it. But i can see a point of having a storage that is "quarantined" and cannot be unloaded. It`s just QoL. But at least for me it`s not "a must" to have. Or that jetpack lagging and running out of fuel in the end of a map Since there are many different things in 1 container and some cool off faster or become germ free sooner locking the entire container is not an option. I suppose I could put 1 item in each container but I assume it will just compound the waiting game since it would add more germs to that 1 thing or more heat etc. 9 hours ago, Sasza22 said: I`m confused. Oh I store all my stuff the same way too but not every map is the same and getting access too certain biomes/gases etc.or even finding them for that matter can take a rather long time. Also the fact that Dupes are the worst they will pass by the same mats on the ground and a row of containers with the same item to grab from somewhere I do not want them to. I will switch priority of certain things and move the dupe to where i want them to take from up to 7 times in a row before they will actually do it.
