Gecko656 Posted October 13, 2018 Share Posted October 13, 2018 So, I have finally created a DST Dedicated server, with hours and hours of work (It was just really difficult for me, trying to find on the forums EVERY, SINGLE problem i had) But, I have bumped into a problem, mods. I need help. I've searched on every article on the forums, steam... but yet, I found ways to add them, but none of them worked for me, so as ''last resort'' Im here, making a post on the forums, wich just leaves me with the question: How do I add mods to Don't Starve Together Dedicated Servers? I'm kinda struggling with your guide (its well structured, its just that im a potato at doing these things) and, I have the same problem as the guy in your guide did, DownloadMods(0), could you tell me where and which files (modoverrides, dedicated_server_mod_setup...) to put? and, what do i write in those files? Daniel86268 Posted October 13, 2018 Share Posted October 13, 2018 The DST_Server_home/mods/dedicated_server_mods_setup.lua file get's all the information for your mod downloading and keeping the mods up to date. The <DST_save_folder>/<your_cluster>/<your_save>/[Master/Caves]/modoverrides.lua file get's all the information for your indvidual mod activations on your individual DST servers. This enables you to activate different mods on each shard independantly. The exact Syntax is described in my old post. Gecko656 Posted October 24, 2018 Author Share Posted October 24, 2018 Okay! dedicated_server_mods_setup.lua file are in the folders: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Don't Starve Together Dedicated Server\mods C:\Users\oscar\OneDrive\Documentos\Klei\DoNotStarveTogether\MyDediServer\Master C:\Users\oscar\OneDrive\Documentos\Klei\DoNotStarveTogether\MyDediServer\Caves (The dedicated_server_mods_setup.lua in the Master and Caves file are just ''tests'' that i tried placing the file in Master and Caves, and I think it did change some things in the StartDSTServers.bat) And all those files have this inside: ServerModSetup("378160973") Im trying to start with just 1 mod to go easy since I still dont understand the mod setup on dedicated servers, but i do plan on adding more mods. Electroely Posted October 28, 2018 Share Posted October 28, 2018 If you're using the Dedicated Server Quick Set Up Guide, there's a good chance that you're validating game files every time you launch your server, which causes the file to get downloaded in its original state. I have been hosting one a year ago, with the same mods I want to use now... Yes I have checked a multiple times the paths. This time I reinstalled the game, and the dedicated DST also, I started setting everything from the beginning, I was hoping creating dedicated_server_mods_setup.lua in Don't Starve Together Dedicated Server folder will help, step by step following your guide, but still no progress. And yes, the files I have they match your guide, modoverrides.lua in both Master and Caves. I feel really hopeless... You can just leave it out like this: ["workshop-829672667"]={ enabled=true } This makes the code easier to read and helps to avoid potential issues. If that still doesn't work, can you try to only enable one of your mods, and see if that works? Maybe there's a syntax error somewhere in your modoverrides.lua that I didn't see. If that works, you can enable the mods one by one and find out where the syntax error might be.
